Maybe we were a bit hasty in presenting the guys of Casablanca here last February, with the moody demo “I Needed To Know”, which is already unavailable for listening. The London quartet, made up of 17 and 18 year old boys, despite the young age already played alongside bands like Foals and Bloc Party, and only now, in September, they will release their first official single, “Yes”, a lovely indie-rock that proves that age does not seem to be a problem for them.
With a proper introduction paved by smooth synths and lot of cowbells, the song brings immediate comparisons with other tropical sounding bands like Theme Park, Zulu Winter and Friendly Fires, especially with the upbeat drums and playful riffs that comes along. The production is crisp and much more polished than when we first heard them, and the chorus, which repeats “yes” to no end, sounds like a soothing breeze of fresh air to calm down the the danceable beats.
Casablanca – Yes
“Yes” was released September 17th by Party Politics, and can be purchased through here.
